Founder and Executive Director, Tostan
Molly Melching has lived in Senegal for over 35 years and has dedicated her life to grassroots community empowerment. Her work with Tostan has brought her international recognition for concrete results including the abandonment of female genital cutting and child/forced marriage in eight African countries, reductions in infant and maternal mortality and the emergence of female leadership. Tostan received the 2007 Hilton Humanitarian Prize and Melching won the 2010 Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship. In 2011, she was recognised by Newsweek and Forbes and in April 2013, HarperOne and Skoll Foundation will publish their debut book on Melching and Tostan.
