Executive Director, The Equality Effect
Fiona Sampson is executive director of The Equality Effect, an NGO that uses international human rights law to improve the lives of women and girls. She came up with the idea for the organisation in 2005, together with African friends and colleagues on the Osgoode Hall Law School graduate programme. She has worked as staff lawyer and director of litigation at the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAD) and has represented NGOs in equality rights cases before Canada’s Supreme Court. Sampson has consulted with a range of organisations and she sits on the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
